This year’s SCN Superstar will be held on March 23 from 7-10 p.m. in the North auditorium. There are five contestants who will participate in a variety of activities and competitions including a talent portion. Continue reading to meet our five SCN Superstars.

Derek Hibben

Why did you join SCN Superstar? 

• “Because it sounded like fun and I like attention.”

What are you looking forward to for the event? 

• “Attention.”

What talent are you going to perform? 

• “You’ll see what it is.”

What is your favorite animal? 

• “Proboscis monkey.”

What is your favorite season? 

• “Spring but like after rain, but before like extreme heat.”

Do you eat ice cream and cake with a fork or a spoon? 

• “Fork and I will stand by that. Making Mr. Wojo proud since I was born.”

Reese Auble

Why did you join SCN Superstar? 

• “I thought it would be fun– like you know, senior year if you want to just like do all the stuff that you can, and I liked getting involved in a lot of the school spirit kind of things so this just felt kind of like a natural thing to do senior year.”

What are you looking forward to for the event? 

• “I am actually excited to see everybody’s formal wear with their escorts because I think everybody’s going to look really good.”

What talent are you going to perform? 

• “I’m going to do… it’s kind of a comedian act. But I’m going to be making balloon animals while I do it.”

What is your dream vacation?

• “I really want to go to Sweden. I’ve been wanting to go to Sweden for like years and years and years so I would What is your dream job?

What’s one movie you live by?

• “I guess that I live by probably Hidden Figures. I love that movie. I think it’s really inspiring.”

Skyler Bell

Why did you join SCN Superstar? 

• “I actually didn’t campaign at all. And I had no clue that I was going to be in it about like two weeks ago, Mihalik just walked up to me and said, ‘We need people and you were voted and will you do it?’ And I was like, ‘Yeah.’”

What are you looking forward to for the event? 

• “I’m looking forward to having an awesome crowd and putting on a good show.”

What talent are you going to perform? 

• “I’m going to be drumming. Piano drum solo.” 

If cities had a personality, what city would you be? 

• “Gary, Indiana.” 

What is your biggest pet peeve?

• “I have two dogs– probably having dog hair everywhere on my clothes like seeing it sometimes on my phone. I hate it.” 

Nick Lindsay-Sanchez

Why did you join SCN Superstar? 

• “I had fun with it last year, I thought, ‘Why not do it again?’” 

What are you looking forward to for the event? 

• “I’m just most looking forward to the talent portion.” 

What talent are you going to perform? 

• “Beatboxing. I plan to add in a little something beforehand, which I don’t want to say what it is just yet, but there is going to be a bit of more musical instruments involved.” 

What is your dream vacation? 

• “I want to try and go to one of the Tomorrowland concerts at some point, which that’s like one of the bigger EDM stages.” 

What is your dream job? 

• “I want to be an artist for a video game company in some form or way– like working on either the concepts or creating the models.” 

Olivia Gofis 

Why did you join SCN Superstar? 

• “I joined because I had a lot of my friends vote for me and I thought it’d be a fun thing to do.”

What are you looking forward to for the event? 

• “I really am excited to see all my friends and like the other contestants’ talents.” 

What talent are you going to perform? 

• “I’m making a rap, so I’m excited for that. I’m actually doing like my own version of a song ‘Ice Ice Baby.’” 

What is your dream vacation? 

• “Probably Greece. It’s super pretty there. I’ve always wanted to go.” 

What’s one movie you live by? 

• “I love rom-coms. There’s one: ‘How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days.’”

What was your favorite TV show growing up?

• “iCarly, definitely.”
