For several years, the students of North’s art department have won millions of dollars in scholarship offers, and 2025 has proven no different for the school.
“[We received] $2,300,000 in scholarship offers for 11 students for 2025,” said North art department head Stephanie Dodd. “We have amassed $11,608,620 in scholarship offers since 2019, [which is] pretty impressive.”
Chief among the scholarship award winners this year has been senior Gianna Hillebrenner, who won $431,000.
“I’ve been doing art ever since I was little,” said Hillebrenner. “But I only really got serious with it in high school.”
Hillebrenner’s success is indicative of North’s larger art program, which has been consistently successful in winning scholarship offers.
“We generally have 400+ students taking art classes each year,” said Dodd. “SCN has been named a top scholarship winning school for four of the last seven years.”
It has been North’s welcoming and expansive art community and educators that has driven this repeated success for art students.
“[My favorite thing has] been in the community,” said Hillebrenner. “I’ve made a lot of great friends and I got to get closer with the teachers. I get to do what I love with people who also love what I do.”
