North students have been captivated by a new Instagram account with the username of “definitelyanSCNstudent.”
Teenagers are no strangers to the types of school-related Instagram accounts their classmates create. Typically sharing videos and pictures of other students, organizing protests and themes and even posting about future college plans, these accounts are followed by many North students.
Students started following this new account after it began posting theme ideas. For example, one day the account shared a post that said, “Wear red tomorrow, North Stars!” The following day, 67% of students wore red. Those who did not were quickly informed about the post, and found creative ways to join the theme, resulting in every student being on theme by the end of the day.
“I wasn’t wearing any red, so I borrowed a red Expo marker and covered my face and arms with it. It was the perfect solution!” said junior Joe Kister.
After a while, people started to get curious about who was running the account. Nobody knew, and rumors floated around about what student it was. It was not until the posts started changing that students realized the account owner may be an opp.
Students began suspecting that a staff member was behind the account after new posts popped up, saying things like, “Twin, remember to charge your Chromebooks tonight,” and “Make sure you get to school on time yo, don’t be 67 minutes late.” Suddenly, the account did not seem to be saying things consistent with a typical student account.
“It was cool when we all wore red, but who do they think they are telling me to charge my chromebook!” said senior Skepti Call. “How else am I supposed to get out of my in-class writing assignment?”
One afternoon, the account posted during the school day, another atypical move for a student account. Student Detect Hive was walking to his PE class late, when he saw Shanna Lewis checking the views on the post from the definitelyanSCNstudent account.
He immediately whipped out his phone and created another account called “definitelyanSCNstudentEXPOSED,” and spread the picture. During 7th passing period, everyone was talking about how Lewis was the creator of the account all along.
The original Instagram account addressed the accusations leveled by the new account, with a post of their own reading: “Nuh-uh, no cap broski. I am not Shanna Lewis twinamin roll. That flick is lowkenuinely AI bro.”
Despite denying the claims on social media, most of the student body is sure that Lewis is the true owner of the account.
